I'm a Teenager... Get Me Into There - Curious Minds

Helping people working in cultural and heritage venues and libraries find better ways to connect and engage with young people

I’m A Teenager… Get Me Into There! is a training programme for cultural and heritage venues and libraries. It is primarily designed for front of house, customer service and volunteer teams. Research shows that positive interactions with heritage, culture and the arts as a teenager is formative. It aides cognitive development and, crucially, informs a person’s lifelong relationship with the sector.

The I’m A Teen… programme supports public-facing staff to feel more confident in their interactions with young people. It enables them to be better able to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for the young people they invite into their buildings and venues.

Created by our clients at Curious Minds, it was made in collaboration with youth and heritage organisations and most importantly, young people themselves.

We were bought in to design both the print and online collateral. This Included a website  and downloadable learner and teacher packs.

“In 2022, as part of building a legacy for our Hope Streets project, we worked with Creative Nation again, to develop an online version of our ‘I’m a Teenager…Get Me Into There!’ course, supporting staff at cultural venues to welcome young visitors. We wanted this to be a free, fun, easy-to-use, interactive training course that was accessible and engaging to front of house staff, volunteers, and others involved in welcoming people into cultural and heritage buildings. We went to Creative Nation with only a rough idea of how to achieve this and they helped us turn it into a reality – exceeding our expectations of what this course could be. The course has now been adopted by a number of museums and cultural organisations as part of their staff training.

On both of these occasions of working together, we found Creative Nation to be meticulously organised, practical yet ambitious, and exceptional at problem-solving and navigating the challenges (and occasional crises) that inevitably arise in complex, time-sensitive projects like these. We are over the moon with the outcomes of both projects and would not hesitate to work with the brilliant Creative Nation team again in the future.”
